Last week we finished our social studies project! We discussed what planet we live on, what continent we live on, what state we live in (O-H-I-O), what city we live in, what street we live on and what our houses looked like! Th students had fun building their world!
Each week in FUNdations the students learn new trick words. Trick reads are words students need to know how to spell and have the ability to identify quickly. These trick words usually can not be "tapped out." Trick words are listed on the newsletter each week. Treat these trick words as you would a spelling word...practice in fun ways. Have your child write these words in jello powder or shaving cream. An awesome website to use is spellingcity.com.
Trick words this week are: were, are. Trick words differ from our high frequency words because the high frequency words do not need to be spelled. Students have to identify these words and use them correctly in a sentence on the reading test (on Thursday). These words were sent home today on gold paper for extra practice. High frequency words this week are: don't, her, line, Mr., new, says, water. |
